He is named for his grandfather, the late John Gotti, a reported leader in the Gambino crime family. An excellent student, John graduated from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York, and went on to college in the New York area.
John appeared on the reality television show Growing Up Gotti with his family from 2004 to 2005. It featured Victoria Gotti as a single mother, raising her three teenage sons while managing a career and personal life. Viewers were captivated by the series, which provided them with an inside look at one of the most well-known families in America. As a result of the success of the show, he and his brothers, Carmine and Frank, became teenage heartthrobs and were nicknamed the "Hotti Gottis." Sometimes called "Mr. Charismatic," John was known for his love of hair gel and designer clothes.
After the show ended, John has made some public appearances, including on the 2005 celebrity singing competition series But Can They Sing?
